The built-in way: Photos search
On iOS 15 and later, your iPhone runs Live Text over your photos and screenshots. Open Photos → Search and type any word you know appears in the screenshot — a name, an address, a confirmation code. Results come back with the text highlighted.
Spotlight too
Swipe down on the Home Screen and type the same word. Spotlight surfaces screenshots containing that text alongside apps and web results.
Where it breaks
- You have to recall an exact word — "kinboshi", not "ramen place"
- No understanding: it can't tell a boarding pass from a meme with an airport in it
- It won't pull out the details — you still read the screenshot yourself
That is the real problem. Nobody remembers "the words that were on screen". You remember what the screenshot was about.
Search by meaning instead
Receipts reads every screenshot and answers the question you would actually ask: "my boarding pass", "the recipe she sent", "that fit from tiktok". The screenshot comes up as the answer — with the details pulled out (place, date, price, links, codes) so you can act on it: directions, calendar, send.
All reading happens on your iPhone. Screenshots are never uploaded, never leave the device unless you send one yourself.
